Qatari Businessmen Association has welcomed the visit of H.E.  Mr. Chase Untermeyer Ambassador of United State of America to Qatar and haled a meeting with him on QBA premises Monday 12, June 2006.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Faisal Bin Qasem Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), Shk. Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani, Board Member, Mr. Omar Hamad Al Mana, board member, the members Sheikh Abdullah Bin Ahmad Al Thani, Mr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Mr. Marzooq Al Shamlan and Mr. Maqbool Habeeb Khalfan, together with Mr. Bassam Ramzy Massouh, General Manager & Mr. Ahmed El Shaffee, Economist of QBA.

The visit aimed to exchange views on various topics, including economic issues present in the arena, which specifically affect the private sector and the impact of those issues on the economic relations between the United States and the State of Qatar. Meetings topics included the free trade agreements, the labour laws, the flow of investments between the two countries, the stock market and others.

The US Ambassador, Mr. Chase Untermeyer presented the viewpoint of the United States of America on the subject of free trade agreement, the importance of focusing on increasing the flow of investments between the two countries, He also confirmed the existence of a distinct commercial relations between the two countries in the absence of trade agreements among themselves.

The Chairman & members of QBA appreciated his Excellency’s visit and presented their views on various topics. Also they have pointed out to the  importance of having a mechanism or forum that combines American Qatari companies and (especially small and medium enterprises),  to hold meetings to discuss economic and trade issues related to free trade

At the end, H.E. US Ambassador expressed his pleasure to meet with Qatari business leaders in QBA and announced his desire to have another meeting in the future in order to discuss on more business topics.
